In order to promote and monitor the General Population Census Executive Director of the Geostat Meri Daushvili along with the expert of Statistics Unit of US Department of Agriculture Michael Steiner and the representative of US Department of Agriculture to Georgia Demna Dzirkvadze personally visited the fieldwork of the Population and Agricultural Census in Kakheti.
Let us remind you that the National Statistics Office of Georgia started the General Population Census on November 5. The process of the General Census across the country will last for 15 days and be finished on November 19.
It should be noted that the Census, by its scope and content, represents a unique source of information on the soial, economic and demographic conditions of the population. The Census will provide the latest information on the number of the population, their sex and age structure, employment, education, health, livelihood, dwellings and agricultural activity.
Through Agricultural Census the data will be acquired on the structure of land used by the households, livestock and poultry, agricultural equipment in use and other important information at the level of municipalities and small territorial units.
According to the Article 28 of the Law of Georgia “On Official Statistics” the individual data obtained from the census are confidential and are not subject to disclosure. Individual data on the respondent are stored in accordance with the rule prescribed by the acting legislation of Georgia.
All citizens of Georgia as well as all foreign nationals and the persons without citizenship residing on the territory of Georgia are required to be censused.
